The Caribbean has the reputation of being the epitome of a romantic, tropical paradise and, deservedly so, with islands surrounded by clear, warm turquoise water, beautiful white sandy beaches, stunning scenery, lush tropical vegetation and each with their own unique and relaxed, friendly vibe. There is a huge choice of places to stay with something for everyone from super luxurious to eco-friendly, colonial to contemporary, well known large resorts to small boutique hotels. With it’s all year round appeal, the Caribbean has become a very popular destination for couples looking for that extra special place to get married. There is so much choice – here are three of our favourite Caribbean Islands perfect for a dream destination wedding
Barbados
A year round destination and located outside the hurricane belt makes Barbados a great choice for a wedding. Not only does it offer beautiful sandy white beaches and stunning scenery, it also is renowned for it’s delicious cuisine (and rum!) as well as having a really good selection of places to stay from boutique hotels like the popular Cobblers Cove Hotel to well-known all inclusive resorts such as The House by Elegant Hotels. When it comes to picking a wedding venue Barbados has many beautiful locations from beaches to boats, impressive colonial piles to rooftops with amazing ocean views. Also, another very good reason to choose Barbados is that there is no waiting period or minimum stay needed to get married.

Antigua
Antigua has to be included in my top three after being voted the Caribbean’s Most Romantic Destination four times in a row by The World Travel Awards with Sandals Grande Antigua being awarded the Most Romantic Resort in 2021! Incredibly, Antigua has 365 beaches all lined with beautiful tall palm trees and pristine white sand. It is volcanic and surrounded by coral reefs offering great snorkelling and diving opportunities. However, Antigua is not all about sand-and-sea – it has a fascinating history, a busy marina that was established in the 17th century, sugar mills and plantations. The jungle covered interior is a great place to explore with lots of hiking trails and zip wires over the canopy for those are looking for a bit of adventure. Wherever you are on this island you are guaranteed incredible sunsets, and what could be more romantic than sipping sundowners in a beautiful tropical location with the one you love?
