Proposing to someone that you love and want to spend the rest of your life with is always going to be exciting. If not a little nerve-wracking. If you proposed at home on a typical day, over a cup of coffee, it would be special. But, many of us want to do more. We want to make the proposal wonderful. We want to give our partners a day to remember.
However nervous you might be, you might want to do everything that you can to create the perfect proposal, filled with romance and excitement. You might want it to be a complete surprise, and you might try your best to give your partner everything that they have ever wanted.
When we start to think about our proposal, one thing that many of us consider is doing it on a special day. You might think about the anniversary of the day you met or your partner’s birthday. Valentine’s Day is always popular, as is New Year’s Eve. But, if you want magical, nothing beats a festive proposal, it is, after all, the most magical time of the year. You might think that you’ve still got plenty of time to plan a festive proposal, but the holidays will be here before you know it, so let’s take a look at some tips to help.
Home or Away?
A proposal abroad can be almost as special as a wedding abroad. But, over Christmas, this isn’t always the right choice. Your home is filled with magic. Your loved ones are nearby. Christmas is a time for family and love. So you might prefer to stay at home. A romantic Christmas shopping city break is the perfect excuse for some time away though if that’s what you choose.
Alone or With Loved Ones?
Christmas is when most of us visit family and friends that we haven’t seen for a long time. So, you need to think about whether you want any of them around for your big moment? Would you like to do it at a big family holiday party? Or over Christmas dinner? Or, would you rather do it alone, on a gorgeous winter walk? Or at home in front of the fire? Ask yourself what your partner would prefer, are they private and shy? Or do they love to be the center of attention?
Pick Your Date
The holidays don’t just have one special day. There are plenty. Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, you might also have your own traditions on other days. Do you want to propose on one of these already special days, or would you rather create a new special occasion?
Find the Perfect Ring
Whenever you propose, the perfect Engagement Ring is essential. If you are proposing over the festive period, could you incorporate this into your design somehow? Take your time to find the ring, and ask friends for advice.
Don’t Neglect Christmas Gifts
If you proposed in October, you’d buy an engagement ring then, and then gifts at Christmas. So, don’t feel as though because you are proposing over the holidays, you can skip gifts. A few small tokens can be enough, but don’t let your proposal totally take over.
